1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth.
2 And the earth was empty and void.
And darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the spirit of God fluttered upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light.”
And there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good.
And God separated between the light and the darkness.
5 And God called the light day.
And the darkness he called night.
And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day one.
6 And God said,
“Let there be an expanse between the waters.
And let it divide between the waters and the waters.”
7 And God made the expanse,
And divided between the waters which were under the expanse
and the waters which were above the expanse.
And it was so.
8 And God called the expanse the heavens.
And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day two.
9 And God said,
“Let be gathered the waters under the heavens
unto one place, and let appear dry ground.”
And it was so.
10 And God called the dry ground earth.
And the pools of the waters he called seas.
And God saw that it was good.
11 And God said,
“Let the earth bring forth grass,
and the plant yielding seed,
the the tree making fruit,
fruit of its own kind,
which its seed is of it upon the earth.”
And it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass,
plants yielding seed of its own kind,
and the tree producing fruit,
which the seed of it is of its own kind.
And God saw that it was good.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day three.
14 And God said,
“Let there be light in the expanse of the heavens,
to divide the between the day and the night.
And let them be for signs,
for seasons and dates and years.
15 And let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens,
and for light upon the earth.
And it was so.
16 And God made the two great lights.
The greater light to rule the day,
and the lesser light to rule the night,
and the stars.
17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens,
for light upon the earth,
18 and to rule in the day and in the night,
and to separate between the light and the darkness.
And God saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day four.
20 And God said,
“Let the waters spring forth living creatures moving,
and birds that fly above the earth,
upon the face of the expanse of the heavens.
21 And God made the great sea monsters,
and every living being that moves,
which the waters brought forth for its own kind,
and every winged bird for its own kind.
And God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying,
“Be fruitful and multiply,
and fill the waters in the seas.
And let the birds multiply on the earth.
23 And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day five.
24 And God said,
“Let the earth bring forth the living being for its own kind,
cattle, and creepers, and beasts of the earth for their own kind.
And it was so.
25 And God made the beasts of the earth for their own kind,
and the cattle for their own kind,
and the creepers of the ground for their own kind.
And God saw that it was good.
26 And God said,
“Let us make mankind in our image and after our likeness,
and let them rule over the fish of the sea,
and over the birds of the heavens,
and over the cattle,
and over the whole earth,
and over the creepers that creep upon the earth.
27 And God created the man in his own image.
In the image of God he created them.
Male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them.
And God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply.
And replenish the earth and subdue it.
And rule over the fish of the sea,
and over the birds of the heavens,
and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
29 And God said,
“Behold, I give to you every plant that bears seed
which is upon the face the the whole earth,
and every tree which bears fruit bearing seed for them.
They shall be food for you.
30 And all the beasts of the earth,
and all the birds of the heavens,
and all the creepers upon the earth,
which in them is a living soul,
and every green plan for food.
And it was so.
31 And God saw all that he made.
And behold, it was very good.
And there was evening, and there was morning.
Day five.
