Genesis 2

1 So were completed the heavens and the earth
and all their host.
2 And God completed,
in the seventh day,
his work which he had made.
And he ceased in the seventh day
from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day
and made it holy,
for it it he ceased from all his work,
which God created to make.
4 Theses are the generations
in which the heavens and the earth were created.

In the day Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens,
5 and every plant of the field,
before it was in the land,
and every herb of the field,
before it grew.
For Yahweh
God had not caused it to rain upon the land,
and there was no man to till the ground.
6 But mist went up from the earth
and watered the whole face of the ground.

7 So Yahweh God formed the man
from the dust of the ground,

and blew into his nostrils the breath of life,
and the man became a living being.

8 And Yahweh God planted a garden,
in Eden in the East,
and put there the man he had formed.

9 And Yahweh God made grow out of the ground
every tree that was pleasant to the sight,
and good for eating,
and the Tree of Life in the midst of the garden,

and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden,
and from there it separated into four heads.
11 The name of the first was Pishon,
which encircle all the land of Havilah,
in which there was the gold.
12 And the gold of the land was good.
There was the resin, and the stone, and the onyx.
13 And the name of the second river was Gihon,
which encircled all the land of Cush.
14 And the name of the third river was Hidagel,
which goes east to Assyria.
And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

15 And Yahweh God took the man and place him in the garden of Eden
to work it and to keep it.
16 And Yahweh
God commanded the man, saying,
“From every tree in garden you shall surely eat,

17 but from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil
you shall not eat from it.
For in the day you eat from it you shall surely die.”

18 And Yahweh God said,
“It is not good that the man should be alone.
I will make a helper to be his counterpart.
19 So Yahweh
God formed from the ground
every beast of the field,
and every bird of the heavens,
and brought them to the man to see what he would call them.
And everything that the man called a living being
that was its name.

20 So the man called names to every cattle,
and to every bird of the heavens,
and to every beast of the field.
But for the man there was not found a helper
to be his counterpart.

21 Then Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man,
and he slept.
Then he took from one of his ribs,

and closed up flesh in its place.
22 And Yahweh God made the rib which he took from the man
for a wife, and brought her to the man.
23 Then the man said,

“This is now bone of my bones,
and flesh of my flesh.

This one will be called wife,
because from husband this one was taken.”
24 Therefore a husband will leave his father and his mother,
and will cleave unto his wife,

and they will be for one flesh.
25 And they were both naked,
the man and his wife,

but they were not ashamed.
