1 Awake! Awake!
Put on your strength O Zion!
Put on your garments of beauty,
O Jerusalem, the holy city!
For not again will come unto you anymore
the uncircumcised or unclean.
2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise!
Sit down, O Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the bands of your neck,
O exile daughter Zion.
3 For thus says Yahweh,
"For nothing you have sold yourselves,
and without money you shall be redeemed."
4 For thus says the Lord Yaweh,
"My people went down to Egypt before,
to sojourn there,
and the Assyria oppressed them without cause.
But now what have I here?"
5 Yahweh declares,
"For my people were taken away for nothing,
that they might rule over them
and make them howl."
Yahweh declares,
"And continually every day
my name is blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name.
Therefore in that day,
for I am he that speaks,
behold me."
7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of him
that brings news proclaiming peace,
that brings good news proclaiming salvation,
That says to Zion,
"Your God Reigns!"
8 The voice of your watchmen will lift up,
their voices together will sing.
Eye to eye they will see,
when Yahweh restores Zion.
9 Break forth into joy,
sing together,
O desolations of Jerusalem,
for Yahweh has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 Yahweh has laid bare his holy arm
in the eyes of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth
have seen the salvation of our God.
11 Depart! Depart!
Go out from there!
You shall touch no unclean thing!
Go out from the midst of her!
Be clean,
you that bear the vessels of Yahweh!
12 For you shall not go out in haste or in flight,
for Yahweh will go before you,
and the God of Israel behind you.
13 Behold, my servant will be wise,
he will be lifted up and greatly exalted.
14 Just as many were astonished at you,
so he was corrupted more than the appearance of a man,
and his form more than the sons of man,
15 so he will sprinkle many nations.
At him kings will shut their mouths,
for what they have not recorded
they will see,
and what they have not heard of
they will understand.
