1 Samuel 10

1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil,
and poured it upon his head,
and kissed him, and said,
"Is it not that Yahweh has anointed you
leader over his inheritance?"

2 When you depart from me today,
then you will find two men
by the sepulchre of Rachel,
on the border of Benjamin and Zelah,
and they will say to you,
'The donkeys which you went to seek are found.
And behold,
your father has moved on
from the issue of the donkeys
and worries for you, saying,
"What will I do about my son?"

3 Then you will go forward from there
and you will come to the plain of Tabor,
and you will find there three men
going up to God at Bethel,
one carrying three kids,
and another carrying three loaves of bread,
and another carrying a skin of wine.
4 And they will great you for peace,
and they will give you two loaves of bread,
and you will take it from their hands.

5 After that you will come to Gibeah of God,
where the garrison of the Philistines is.
And it will happen,
when you come there to the city,
that you will come upon a company of prophets
coming down from the high place,
and before them a skin, and a timbrel,
and a pipe, and a harp,
and they will be prophesying.
6 And the Spirit of Yahweh will break out upon you,
and you shall prophesy with them,
and you shall be changed into a different person.
7 So let it be,
when these signs have come to pass for you,
do whatever your hand shall find,
for God is with you.

8 Then go before me to Gilgal.
And behold, I will come down to you,
to offer up burnt offerings,
to sacrifice sacrifices of peace.
Seven days you shall wait
until I come to you,

and tell you what you shall do.

9 And it happened,
when he turned his back to go from Samuel,
that God changed him another heart.
And all these signs came to pass
on that day.

10 Then they came there to Gibeah,
and behold, a company of prophets met them,
and the Spirit of God broke out upon him,
and he prophesied in their midst.
11 So it happened,
all that knew him from former times,
and beheld him
prophesying with the prophets,
that said the people one to another,
"What is this that has happened
to the son of Qish?
Is Saul also among the prophets?"
12 Then answered a man from there, saying,
"And who is their father?"
Therefore it was a proverb,
"Is Saul also among the prophets?"
13 Then he finished prophesying.

Then he came to the high place.
14 Then Saul's uncle said to him and to his young man,
"Where did you go?"
And he said,
"To find the donkeys.
Then we saw that they were not there,
so we went to Samuel."
15 Then Saul's uncle said,
"Tell me, please,
what did Samuel say to you?"
16 Then Saul said to his uncle,
"He told us surely the donkeys were found."

But the word about the kingdom,
which Samuel spoke,
he did not tell him.
