Genesis 8

1 Then God remembered Noah,
and all the living things
,
and all the cattle,
that were with him in the ark.

And God made a wind pass upon the earth,
and the waters were assuaged;

2 And the fountains of the deep were stopped;
and the windows of the
heavens;
and the rain was restrained from the heavens.
3 And the waters returned from upon the earth,
and continued to return
.

Then the waters decreased
at the end of a hundred and fifty days
.
4 Then the ark rested
in the seventh month,
on the seventeenth day of the month,
upon the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters continued to decrease
until the tenth month.
On the first day of the tenth month
the tops of the mountains were seen.

6 So it happened,
at the end of forty days,
then Noah opened the window of the ark
which he had made.

7 And he sent forth a raven
which went and went and returned
,
until the waters were ashamed from off the earth.

8 And he sent forth a dove from him,
to see if the waters were uncursed
from upon the face of the ground
.
9 But the dove did not find rest
for the
sole of her foot,
and she returned to him into the ark,
for the waters were upon the face of all the ground.
Then he stretched for his hand and took her,
and brought her to him into the ark.

10 And he stayed yet seven more days.

And again he sent forth the dove from the ark.
11 And the dove came to him in the evening,
and behold, an olive leaf plucked off in her mouth.

Then Noah knew that the waters were uncursed
from upon the land.

12 And he stayed yet seven more days.
Then he sent forth the dove,
and not again did it return to him anymore.

13 So it happened,
in the six hundred and first year,
at the beginning of the first month,

the waters were dried up from upon the land.
Then Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked,
and behold, the face of the ground was dried up.

14 So in the second month,
on the twenty-seventh day of the month,
the earth was ashamed.

15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 "Go forth from the ark,
you, and you wife, and your sons,
and the wives of your sons with you.
17 All the living things that are with you
from all flesh,
of bird, and of animal,
and of all the creepers that creep upon the earth,
bring them forth with you that they may breed in the land,
and be fruitful and multiply upon the land.

18 So Noah went forth,
and his sons, and his wife,
and the wives of his sons with him.
19 All the living things,
all the creepers, and all the birds,
and all that creeps upon the earth,
for their own kind,
went forth from the ark.

20 Then Noah built an altar to Yahweh,
and took from all the clean animals,
and all the clean birds,

and offered burnt offering upon the altar,
21 Then Yahweh smelled the sweat aroma,
and Yahweh said in his heart,
"Never again will I curse anymore
the ground on account of the man,
though the imagination of the heart of the man
is wicked from his youth.
And never again anymore
will I smite all life as I have done.
22 Unto all the days of the earth,
seedtime and harvest,
and cold and heat,
and summer and winter,
and day and night,
will never shabbat."
