Isaiah 26

1 In that day,
this song will be sung in the land of Judah.

Song of Isaiah

We have a strong city,
salvation is appointed for its wall and its army.
2 Open the gates
so the righteous nation may come in,
the one that keeps faith.

3 You will guard in perfect peace
the one whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.

4 Trust in Yahweh always,
for in Yah, Yahwheh,
is an everlasting Rock.

5 For he brings down those who dwell on high,
the lofty city he lays low,
he lays it low to the ground,
he brings it to the dust.
6 The foot shall trample it,
the foot of the poor,
the steps of the needy.

7 The road of the Righteous One is upright,
the Righteous One shall consider the upright path.

8 Also, Yahweh, we wait for the road of your justice.
Our soul shall long for
your name and your rememberance.
9 My soul covets you in the night,
and my spirit seeks you early in the morning.
For when your judgments are in the land
those who dwell in the world will learn righteousness.

10 The wicked one is not favored to learn righteousness,
he acts unjustly in the land of integrity,
and he will not see the glory of Yahweh.
11 It is Yahweh that raises up your hand,
the strong will not always be strong,
the envious people will be ashamed,
but fire shall devour your enemies.

12 O Yahweh, establish peace for us,
for you also have prepared for us
all our deeds.

Hezekian Lament

13 O Yahweh our God,
lords other than you have ruled over us,
but we remembered your name alone.
14 They died, they will not live,
their dead will not rise up.
Because you visited and destroyed them,
and perished all the memory of them.

15 You increased the nation, Yahweh,
you increased the nation.
You glorified yourself,
you removed all the ends of the earth.
16 They visited you in trouble, Yahweh,
the poured out a whisper,
your chastisement upon them.

17 As a pregnant woman drawing near to birth
cries out in pain from her labor,
so we have been before you, Yahweh.
18 We have been with child,
we have been in pain,
yet we have given birth to wind.
We have not won victories in the land,
we have not overcome the inhabitants of the land.

19 Your dead will live,
they will raise up my body.
Awake and sing,
you who dwell in the dust!
Your dew is the dew of herbs,
and you shall overcome the land of the dead.

20 Come, my people,
go inside your chambers,
and close your doors around you.
Hide yourselves for a little while,
until the indignation has passed over.

21 For behold,
Yahweh comes from his abode,
to visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the land
upon them.
Then the land will reveal her blood,
and no longer cover up her slain.
