Isaiah 55

1 Ho! All you that thirst!
Come to the waters.
And you that do not have money,
come, buy and eat.
And come buy without money,
and without cost, wine and milk.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what is not satisfaction?
Listen carefully to me,
and eat what is good,
and let your sould delight in richness.

3 Incline your ear to me,
and come to me.
Listen, and your soul shall live.
I will cut with you an everlasting covenant,
the faithful love of David, sure.
4 Behold, I have given him,
as a witness for the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.

5 Behold, you shall summon
a nation you do not know,
and a nation that does not know you
will run to you,
because of Yahweh your God,
and for the Holy One of Israel,
for he has made you glorious.

6 Seek Yahweh while he may be found,
call upon him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the man of iniquity his thoughts,
and return to Yahweh,
and he will be merciful to him,
and to our God
and he will abundantly pardon.

8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not my ways,"
declares Yahweh.
9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 for just as the rain and the snow
come down from the heavens,
and do not return there
unless they water they water the earth,
and make it bear, and make it sprout,
and give seed for the sower
and bread for the eater,
11 so will be my word
which proceeds from my mouth.
It will not return to me empty
unless it does that which I delight,
and prospers for which I sent it."

12 For in joy you shall go out,
and in peace you shall be led forth.
The mountains and the hills
will break out before you singing,
and all the trees of the field
will clap the hand.
13 Instead of thorns
the fir tree will come up,
and instead of the brier
the myrtle tree will come up.
14 And I will be for Yahweh for a name,
for an everlasting sign
that will not be cut off.
