Psalm 6

Priestly Intro

1 For the chief musician,
with stringed instruments,
upon sheminiyt,
a psalm for David.

Southern Royal Psalm

Yahweh, do no rebuke me in your anger,
and do not chastise me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, Yahweh,
for I am weak.

Cure me, Yahweh,
for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is greatly troubled.
But you, Yahweh, how long?

4 Return, Yahweh,
deliver my soul.
Save me for the sake of your love.
5 For there is no remembrance of you
in death.
In Sheol who will praise you?

6 I am weary in groaning.
I swim all night in my bed.
I water my couch in tears.
7 My eye is consumed in grief.
It has grown old because of my enemies.

8 Depart from me,
all you workers of iniquity,
for Yahweh has heard
the voice of my weeping.
9 Yahweh has heard my supplication.
Yahweh will receive my prayer.

10 Let all my enemies
be ashamed and greatly troubled.
Let them turn back
and be suddenly ashamed.
