Priestly Intro
1 A meditation for David,
which he sang to Yahweh
upon the words of Cush the Benjaminite.
Southern War Song
Yahweh my God, in you I trust.
Save me from all who persecute me,
and deliver me.
2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion,
rending it with no one to deliver.
3 Yahweh my God,
if I have done this,
if there be iniquity in my hands,
4 if I have paid evil
to him that was at peace with me,
and drawn out my troubler without cause,
5
let the enemy pursue my soul and take it,
and let him tread my life upon the earth,
and let my honor lie in the dust.
Selah
6 Arise, Yahweh, in your anger.
Lift up against the rage of my troublers,
and awaken for me
the justice of your command.
7 Then the congregation of the people
shall surround you.
So
return on high for their sakes.
8 May Yahweh judge the people.
Vindicated me, Yahweh,
according to my righteousness,
and my integrity upon me.
9 Let the wickedness of the wicked
now come to an end,
but establish the Righteous One.
And prove the heart and reigns,
O God, of the Righteous One.
10 My Shield belongs to God,
who saves the upright of heart.
God vindicates the Rigthteous One,
and God is angry all the day.
12 If he does not turn back
he will sharpen his sword.
13 He has bent back his bow
and made it ready.
14 He has prepared the instruments
of death for himself.
He makes his arrows into flames.
15 Behold, he pledges
iniquity,
he conceives mischief,
he breeds deceit.
16 He has dug a pit
and laid it open.
He has fallen into the grave he made.
17 His mischief shall return
upon his own head,
and upon his scalp his violence
will come down.
18 I will praise Yahweh
for his righteousness!
And I will sing the name of
Yahweh Elyown!
