1 Chronicles 29

1 Then David the king
said to all the congregation,
"God alone has chosen
Solomon my son.
He is young and tender,
but the duty is great.
For the palace is not for man,
but it is for Yahweh God.

9 And the people rejoiced
because they offered willingly,
for with a whole heart
they offered willingly to Yahweh.
And David the king also rejoiced
with a great joy.

10 Then David blessed Yahweh
in the eyes of all the congregation,
and David said,

11 Blessed are you, O Yahweh,
the God of Israel our father,
from everlasting to everlasting.

Yours, O Yahweh,
is the greatness and the might,
and the beauty and the victory and the majesty,
For all that are in the heavens and the earth.

Yours, O Yahweh, is the dominion,
and you exalt yourself as head over all.

12 And the riches and the glory are from your presence,
and you rule over all.
And in your hand is power and might,
and in your hand is to make great,
and to make strong to all.

13 So now, our God,
we thank you,
and praise your glorious name.

14 But who am I,
and what are my people,
that we should be able to willingly offer like this?
For all things are from you,
and we give to you what is from your hand.
15 For we are foreigners before you,
and sojourners like our fathers.
Our days are like shadows upon the earth,
and there is no remaining."

16 "O Yahweh, our God,
all this wealth which we have prepared
to build a house for you,
for your holy name,
it is from your hand and it is all yours."

17 "And I know, my God,
that you test the heart,
and you show favor to uprightness.
I have offered all these
in the uprightness of my heart.
And now your people, who are found here,
I have seen with joy they offer freely to you."
