Psalm 4

Priestly Intro

1 For the chief musician,
upon stringed instruments,
a psalm for David.

Southern Royal Song

Hear me when I call,
my Righteous God.
In trouble you have relieved me.
Have mercy on me,
and hear my prayer.

Priestly Interlude

2 O sons of men,
how long will you turn my glory into shame?
Shall you love vanity?
Shall you seek falsehood?

Selah

3 But know that Yahweh has set apart
the Faithful One for himself.
Yahweh will hear when I call to him.

4 Be shaken, but do not sin.
Commune in your heart upon your bed,
and be silent.

Selah

5 Offer righteous sacrifices,
and trust in Yahweh.

6 There are many who say,
"Who will show us good?"
Lift up upon us the light of your presence,
Yahweh.

7 You have put gladness in my heart,
more than when their grain
and wine multiplied.

8 In peace I may both
lay down and sleep.
For you, Yahweh,
make me dwell only in safety.
